IT Support
The letter
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to apply for the IT Support position at your company. I have hands-on experience troubleshooting technical issues, helping users resolve day-to-day problems, and communicating clearly with customers during support requests.
In previous support work, I handled tickets from first contact through resolution. I focused on identifying the issue, explaining the next steps in simple terms, and following up to make sure the problem was fully resolved. That approach helped me stay organized while maintaining a positive customer experience.
I also understand the importance of measurable impact in support work. I track ticket resolution, respond carefully to user needs, and aim to reduce repeat issues by documenting solutions clearly. My goal is to provide support that is both efficient and easy to understand.
I would welcome the chance to bring that mindset to your team. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
Why it is written this way
- The opening names the role and one concrete capability rather than opening with enthusiasm. A support manager reading twenty letters is looking for a reason to keep going, and "I am passionate about technology" is not one.
- The second paragraph describes a process rather than a personality. "From first contact through resolution" tells a support manager you understand ticket ownership, which is the thing they are actually screening for.
- Documenting solutions to reduce repeat issues is the detail that lifts this above a generic letter. It shows you think past the individual ticket to the queue.
- It does not restate the resume. Every sentence adds context a bullet point cannot carry.
